Senior Ridge Vanderbur lost his eight-and-a-half month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on April 4. He was 18.

Student Council organized a balloon release during fourth and fifth lunches April 6 in his honor.

Vanderbur not only affected the school, but the community as well. Friends, teammates and members of the community joined together to form Team Ridge to show their love and support for Vanderbur, as well as his family.

“I’m just going to miss him,” senior Ryan Spadafore said. “I don’t really like to think of the sad things.”

Many Corona sports programs have also coordinated prayer circles and “Ridge themed” games to show Vanderbur their support. On April 2, the varsity boys volleyball game was live-streamed at the Mayo Clinic for Vanderbur to watch.

Details about memorial services have not yet been determined.
