The varsity boy’s volleyball team finished the season with a record of 20-15, and lost in the first round of the state playoffs against Highland High School on May 10.
The Aztecs had a strong season but couldn’t get going when it mattered.
“It was an up and down season” senior outside hitter Gavin Haws said. “We got hot and cold throughout the season, but we just didn’t get hot at the right time.”
Corona had a few highlights of the year including second place at the Antelope Classic in which this was the first tournament Corona has placed either first or second for boy’s volleyball.
“It was the first time we placed highly in a tournament” Haws said. “We were playing really well together.”
Before the state tournament, Corona practiced on Saturday and had a short practice before the game on Monday to work on defense.
“We played a really good team,” senior defensive specialist Ben Hauber said. “We put up a really good fight and the games were really close.”
