Boys’ track

Corona’s boys’ track team has continued to perform inconsistently this season.

Recently, the team took ninth place out of 36 teams at the Queen Creek Invitational. Even though this was a decent performance, the team is not entirely satisfied with how things went.

“We had some good individual results, but as a team there is still room for improvement,” junior Daniel Wrapp said. “We are definitely going to continue working hard at practice.”

Another key to the team’s season will be avoiding injuries. Senior Matt Whitlatch and junior Michael Seall have both struggled with injuries this season. This has had a significant impact on the team’s distance events. Fortunately, they are both due to return to competition in the remaining meets this season.

“I am really looking forward to running in the meets again,” Seall said. “Garret Baker-Slama has been doing really well for us in the distance events, but we need to have everyone at their best in order to reach our potential.”

The Aztecs have two more significant meets left before the state competition.  They will compete Apr. 30 in the Varsity City Meet, and they will also participate in the Regional Championships starting May 5.

“It’s going to be really important that we all do our best,” Seall said. “There isn’t much time left for improvement, so we’re just going to continue working as hard as possible.”
