The boys’ and girls’ varsity track teams will be very busy this week as they try to find a rhythm for the rest of the season.
Both teams will host Basha on Wednesday at 2 p.m. They will also compete in the Chandler Rotary Invitational over the following Thurdsday, Friday, and Saturday. These meets will be very important in order for the teams to maintain their morale.
“We should have a really good chance against Basha,” junior Daniel Wrapp said. “The Chandler Rotary is going to be more difficult though. Our performance will be the direct result of how hard we have been practicing.”
So far, the Aztecs have had mixed results this year. They girls took first place at the Paradise Valley Relays and currently have one win and one loss. The boys’ team also won the Paradise Valley Relays competition, however they have lost both of their dual meets.
“Even though we didn’t get off to a perfect start, I think both teams are going to do well in the long run,” junior Hanna Snyder said. “We’ve really been pushing ourselves, so that should definitely pay off in the end.”
