Both the boys and girls soccer teams will be facing off in the 5A-I State Championships Saturday, Feb. 13, and looking to sweep the State Soccer Champion titles.
The boys started out the playoffs with a rank of No. 5 and worked their way to the top after beating No. 12 Mesa, No. 4 Kofa and No. 1 Salpointe. The State Championship game will be against Hamilton, which has been ranked No. 2.
The Lady Aztecs started out the playoffs as the underdogs, being ranked No. 15 out of 16 schools, but quickly proved to be top contenders for the state title by beating No. 2 Gilbert, No. 10 Mesquite and No. 6 Desert Vista. The girls will face off against the No. 1 ranked Xavier Gators in the State Championships.
Both games will be held at Campo Verde High School, located at Val Vista and the Loop 202. First kick for the ladies is at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. for the boys.
