Corona’s varsity boys’ basketball team will be hosting its second annual Hoopcoming game on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. against Dobson.
The game will be especially important for Corona because it will be televised on Cox Channel 7. This could attract the attention of scouts and it could also have a huge effect on team morale for the remainder of the year.
“It’s going to be a big game for us, but I feel really confident that we will play well,” junior guard Jason Kam said. “It will definitely help having lots of people there to support us.”
For the Hoopcoming game, students are supposed to wear orange and black to show their school spirit. As a promotion, the bookstore has been selling Corona basketball jerseys for $20, which can be personalized for an extra $7.
If students buy a jersey or come to the Hoopcoming game, they will be able to get into the dance on Friday for free. In order get free admission to the dance, students must wear a jersey or present the voucher they received for attending the game. Many students plan on taking advantage of this incentive because they can save money while enjoying the events.
“I went last year and had a lot of fun at the game and the dance,” junior Daniel Wrapp said. “It is a really good deal, so I’m probably going to do the same thing again this year.”
