On April 9, Corona del Sol’s STAND club held its annual Strut4Stand. Strut4Stand is a fashion show, featuring students, staff members, and “Mini-Models,” who are children of the staff members.
The show was put on to help raise money for the children suffering from genocide in Darfur.
“It is our biggest fundraiser of the whole year,” said president of STAND club, junior Amanda Baker.
STAND club members started preparing for the show in January. They had a sign up table at lunch and they advertised around the school and Facebook. Anyone who wanted to model was able to sign up.
The show consisted of three categories, school spirit, formal, and casual. The models could wear whatever they wanted as long as it fit the category they chose.
“Jill McLaughlin and I did school spirit and we wore crazy wings and had a lot of fun putting together the perfect outfit,” junior Carly Robertson said.
Corona’s hip-hop club performed a special school spirit performance in the show.
“The dance performance was really exciting and seemed like the dancers put a lot of effort into the performance,” junior Haleigh Chapman said.
Guests were also asked to vote on the model they were there to support. Anthony Cantelmo and his “Mini-Model,” Olivia Cantelmo were the winners of the show, receiving a $50 gift certificate to Chandler Fashion Center.
